Getting Started

Set up MsgHealth in under 15 minutes

This guide walks you through creating your account, adding clients, understanding health scores, and sending your first retention message — step by step.

01

Create your free account

Sign up at msghealth.net with your email address. No credit card is required. Every new account includes a 14-day full Pro trial so you can explore all features before committing to a plan.

  • Use your business email for a professional setup
  • Your 14-day trial starts the moment you sign up
  • You can invite team members from day one
02

Add your first clients

There are three ways to populate your client list. You can import directly from your booking software (Square, Vagaro, Mindbody), sync from Google Calendar, or add clients manually one at a time. Most businesses are fully imported in under 5 minutes.

  • CSV import is available for any other software
  • Duplicate detection prevents double entries
  • Client health scoring begins the moment a client is added
03

Understand the health score

Every client receives a real-time health score between 0% and 150%. The score is calculated from their booking cadence, response patterns, time since last visit, and historical frequency. A score of 100% means the client is visiting exactly on their usual schedule. Above 100% means they're visiting more than usual — a great sign. Below 70% triggers an at-risk alert.

  • Below 70%: client is at risk of churning
  • Below 40%: high priority — reach out immediately
  • Above 100%: a loyal, growing client
04

Configure your alert thresholds

Go to Settings → Alerts to set the score threshold at which you want to be notified. The default is 70%, but you can lower it to 60% for a more selective alert or raise it to 80% if you want earlier warnings. You'll also choose whether alerts trigger an automated SMS, an in-app notification, or both.

  • Start with the default 70% threshold and adjust over time
  • Automated SMS can be turned on per-client or for all at-risk clients
  • Email digest summaries are available on Pro and above
05

Send your first retention message

Once an at-risk client is identified, MsgHealth can automatically send a personalized retention SMS. You can use the AI-generated template (recommended for first-timers) or write your own. The message includes the client's name, references their last service, and includes a rebooking link if you have one set up.

  • AI templates are personalized per client and service type
  • Preview any message before it sends
  • Responses are tracked so you can see who rebooks
06

Monitor your retention dashboard

The Overview tab in your dashboard shows your average client health, revenue at risk, high-priority clients, and your overall rebooking rate. Check it daily to stay on top of client relationships. The Predictions tab shows AI-generated churn forecasts for the next 30 days.

  • Pin your most important analytics widgets to the top
  • Revenue at risk = estimated monthly revenue from all at-risk clients
  • The weekly health report email summarizes your key metrics

Common setup questions

How long does setup take?

Most businesses complete the full setup in under 15 minutes. Importing clients from Square or Google Calendar typically takes 2–3 minutes. Configuring alerts takes another 5 minutes. The rest is automatic.

Do I need technical skills to use MsgHealth?

Not at all. MsgHealth is designed for busy service business owners, not developers. If you can use a smartphone, you can use MsgHealth. There's nothing to install — it works entirely in your browser.

Can I import my existing client list?

Yes. MsgHealth supports direct import from Square, Vagaro, Mindbody, and Google Calendar. For any other software, export your client list as a CSV and upload it via Settings → Data Import.

Will health scoring work if I only have a few clients?

Yes — health scoring works from the very first client. The algorithm adjusts to each client's individual booking pattern, so it's just as accurate for a business with 5 clients as one with 500.

Is there a mobile app?

MsgHealth is a fully responsive web app, meaning it works great on any smartphone browser. A dedicated iOS and Android app is on the roadmap for later this year.
